Shepherd's Pie

I think the biggest disappointment I had traveling was when I went to London. The food was pretty bad. Maybe it was the extreme price tags simple foods had, or the fact that everything was drenched in oil without much seasonings.. or that I just came over from Paris (I need to go back soon!.) I guess that's why there were so many pubs. So many of these foods went SO well with their beers! Anyway... I didn't find much that I liked in London, but was always curious about English foods. The more rustic, and home-cooked types, no fryers needed. I came across a recipe in a good cookbook that I had called "The Cook's Book: Techniques and Tips from the World's Master Chefs." I've been using this book a lot with all the basics in cooking. From.. steaming fish with a soy/oyster ginger sauce.. making pesto, gnocchi, risotto, or that suppli al telefono... this book has been so great at explaining everything so I can be a more advanced chef!

Shepherd's Pie: It's basically like American chili without the spices topped with freshly mashed potatoes mixed with egg yolk. It was yummy... very hearty.. and quite easy to make. The only con was that it did take a long time from start to finish.

I won't put a recipe because there are SO many out there online. It's a pretty standard recipe, and you season and alter it to your own tasting.
