Baby Shower Cupcakes

I would be a great patient for myself. My risk of getting cavities is... Extreme! ... and no I'm not just saying that... I ran a few tests... I have issues. I'm glad I'll have some wonderful colleagues who will have my back when my teeth start to fail on me. :)  In a span of 20 hours I managed to eat 5 cupcakes... and probably half a box of nilla wafers...!!! I'm addicted to sweets.. plus I had to taste if it was ok. I made these cupcakes before. They were quite fun to make. I had another request for them... so I spent the past few days putting together all the pieces. Obviously.. these were for a baby shower. Not mine, yet, but yea.. my friend's friend.

Had some leftover cupcakes, frosted them with dark chocolate buttercream!
I made dark chocolate cupcakes using my favorite recipe, and frosted it lightly with some buttercream. I cut up half a marshmallow for the pillow, and used mini nilla wafers for the head and body. I made the fondant from marshmallows and powdered sugar and used a heart shaped cutter for the blanket. My mixer, Pierre Escargot, came to the rescue with this project. Making fondant with the dough hook attachment was incredibly easy! No more kneading by hand! I had edible food markers and did that for the eyes. I didn't want to bother with more frosting. I used heart shaped sprinkles for the mouth. These were pretty simple. Took around 3.5 hours worth of time. I liked the ones I made with my sis a few years ago... those were made with Satin Ice fondant, and they were red velvet. I think we just had more time and energy. I woke up early on friday to make the fondant, and baked the cupcakes that evening after a really long day.. right before I headed out to dinner... and then I woke up early on saturday to color the fondant, make the frosting, and work on all the decorations. I enjoyed it though. I also have a few extra pieces of fondant.. was tempted to do the molar cupcakes.... but iono. maybe another day.

Last time we made this...  we placed hair on the head and made fondant pacifiers
