Has this ever happened to you?...You crack an egg into a bowl of already measured things... and notice two yolks instead of one? ... that definitely happened to me today... and I surprisingly didn't panic. I'm not sure how different this pasta would have tasted... but my guess is... probably not a rich... since there were 3 egg yolks instead of the 2. One thing I know that I don't need right now... is a pasta machine. I've always been tempted to get one, especially when I worked a lot with fondant, but no, no more kitchen goodies for awhile. I used my KA mixer - Pierre Escargot :) .. to "knead" the dough, it needed a little bit of help mixing it initially, but then it turned into a nice ball. I divided the portion in half and then threw a ball onto my floured pastry board... and started to roll it out. I rolled it to be as thin as I was willing to make it... aka.. it wasn't too thin, I was getting really hungry and tired... but good enough. I made extra wide fettuccine... don't know if there's a name for it. I served it with pasta sauce mixed with a little half and half ... my dinner was wonderful.. I feel full and fat from all the carbs haha... I had the pasta with a salad, and a piece of bread from the afternoon..... which I guess makes me feel like one of those grandmothers from the country.. I made my own bread.. and pasta..... I definitely know why I"m doing this though... it's because finals are around the corner... when I get stressed... I cook. Hopefully it won't be too late of a night... I still have yet to finish what's due tomorrow... but... I did make a good attempt to start it :)

It could definitely be rolled out thinner.... but I was getting too hungry! |
|
Folded up the dough into thirds... and cut it with a pastry scraper |
|
I didn't actually dry it... I just did this for kicks while the water was boiling |

I cut this recipe into a third.... and even that was more than enough pasta for 2 people.. I have half of the dough chilling in the fridge right now... maybe tomorrow I'll make some raviolis with spinach/gorgonzola fillings... but who knows.. I'll probably just be studying for my final on Wed... that sounds like a better plan.
