Kheer - Indian Rice Pudding
I had extra milk and half and half... it was time to make something that required a lot of those things.. and rice pudding is that thing :) I love Indian foods. Last summer, I went to the spice market and with my list of to buys... one of which was cardamom. I noticed that cardamom was a spice missing from my spice collection... and so many recipes, especially ones that were chai spiced or indian recipes had it. Cardamom is expensive! I was always hesitant to get it at the store because a bottle would run well over 10 bucks. I knew I didn't need much so I was happy to find a buy by the weight spice place ( Spice Market at Pike Place - there are many other places in SF that I've yet to go to.. but will make my journey this year!) I used this recipe and added milk and spices to the rice consistency and taste. I also added around 1/4 tsp rose extract because I love rose and cardamom together.

Changes- used basmati rice, added a little bit of rose extract, didn't have pistachios :/
