My love for tea...

Here's a glimpse of the collection of my favorite teas!

Starting with the Greens.... :

- Finally got a REAL Matcha Whisk!!! Now I have to learn how to use it!

- Pretty small collection, from the back left- Matcha Green Tea Powder , Lupicia loose leaf Matcha Kiara Rice Tea ( This is an odd tasting one, but I love it as a base for my tea lattes), Strawberry Vanilla loose leaf green tea ( Really good when iced with a little bit of honey) , front left- Green Max green tea milk tea powder, good quick tea latte fix, and a jasmine green tea bag , just your old standard tea bag I guess.

- Love this stuff .... as stated in my previous posts, this magical stuff is ridiculously priced.. BUT, you use SO little that it's worth it. Screw the "2 month expiration" thing.. haha I'll make mine last a year! ( It started to clump a lot more, and the Japanese outlet that I went to did not have a matcha sifter.. : ( )

- Such beautiful craftsmanship... I hope it doesn't break soon : (

Green Tea Latte

1/2 cup Milk ( Whole or 2%)
1/2 cup Water
1 tbsp Honey, or more if you like it sweeter
1- 1.5 tsp Matcha Kiara Rice Tea from Lupicia
1 green tea bag

1. In a small saucepan, bring milk, water, and honey to a boil and the mixture is nice and frothy/foamy. Watch carefully because it will boil over fairly quickly, and nothing beats cleaning up burnt milk from the stove..... : /
2. Reduce heat to a small simmer, add in loose leaf tea, stir, and simmer for 10 seconds.
3. Add in a tea bag, and turn off heat. Leave in saucepan for 30 seconds.
4. Strain into mug, let cool, and Enjoy! : )

Just a side note.... My favorite tea shop has to be Lupicia (I haven't tried Teavana, but don't think I'll do so anytime soon, I bought my small whisk there and it just broke.. so I don't believe in their quality just quite yet... ) Lupicia is amazing. I spent over 1 hour once just sniffing all the teas, and just coming out with 2 small bags. I've tried so many flavors but always come back to the same ones. There are some misses, and some that are over-rated. One of those bags is approximately 50 grams and runs around 4-12 dollars on average per bag and lasts probably a good month if you use it every day and are generous of the amount you put into your tea. I'm pretty generous with my scoops because I really want that flavor to come out, especially with green tea, but the green teas are by far the cheapest teas I have. I think the matcha kiara rice tea runs around 4 bucks. That being said, I don't really like going out for tea because I like the freedom of customizing my order. If I do go out for tea at Starbucks or Coffee Bean, I always get the same thing.. Iced Black Tea, and at boba shops it either Taro or just plain Milk Tea ( I don't even know if there's tea in those things.. haha I just like the flavor ) : D

Up Next... my black tea collection....that's a little more interesting....

My Black Tea Bag Collection - Lipton is the basic black tea that's actually pretty ok in iced tea and tea lattes. It's just really easy to get a really bitter tea.
- Numi Tea: Great caffeine content, always keeps me awake.
- Bigelow English Tea Time: I typically steep this with a milk tea powder to make it stronger, the milk tea powder was from 99 ranch
- The British Tea... "Fortnum and Mason" from the company that makes those baskets haha, if it's good enough for the queen, it's good enough for me right? I love this tea. British people definitely know how to make good tea, Harrods has a great breakfast tea, but I ran out, and I would not go to London just for that.

* What's Missing: Awake Tazo Tea, really strong and bold, but does what the name says... keeps me wide awake , Green Max Boba Milk Tea Mix... I'm sure more, I sample tea it goes to the trash eventually if it's not strong enough. I prefer doing loose leaf teas because of the extra flavor ... here's my mini- collection of my favorite black teas from Lupicia.

- COOKIE IS MY #1 ALL TIME FAVORITE TEA!!! in a latte that is... it's sooo delicious, one smell and you'll be hooked. It's not exactly cookie smelling, but it has hints of vanilla and almond and makes the BEST milk tea.
- Miss Jasmin Flat- good earl grey, the flavor grows on me, but it's a really flavorful tea nonetheless. This is my new tea to my collection. I haven't experimented too much with it, but I'm sure it'd taste good just plain.
- Pumpkin Pie Tea: seasonal tea! Perfect for winter. I love the spices in this tea paired with milk.. it's kinda like drinking cinnamon/anise/nutmeg/chai-ish tea. I don't know how to explain it because there's a LOT of ingredients in this one. Typically I like to add in a little ground ginger and nutmeg to the water/milk mixture b4 I steep the tea.

- Those random ones.. Just standard black teas. I get samples when I buy.. always fun to try new things!
-One flavor that was a HUGE miss : Caramel Machiato - I think that's what it's called. I loved the smell so much because it reminded me of coffee. The tea was SO weak, and not a hint of coffee could be tasted. I can't drink coffee, but I miss it. haha I wanted this tea so badly that I actually bought it in its tin... which is + $2 ... what a waste.

- I really drink tea for the caffeine content most of the time. I have a hard time staying awake in certain classes, and need that caffeine badly. My next trip to Lupicia will probably focus more on the black teas. I'm sticking to my matcha tea as my go-to green tea, even though it doesn't taste too great by itself.

How I Prepare my Tea...
1 Part Water, 1 Part Milk, 1 good squirt of honey, and loose leaf tea/ tea bag of your choice. See above for directions for that foamy frothy goodness.

- Pearl Jasmine Tea from Trader Joe's is really light... flavor is not there, but the bag it comes in is really pretty, it's kind of like cloth.. a 5 minute brew and not that much flavor??? I'll pass on that.. That's why they always say that the only good teas come from loose leafs/ whole leaf teas... tea bags teas just aren't as flavorful..
