Cherry Blossom Mini Cake

I'm really considering giving myself a time limit on my cakes to push myself to work faster. This super tiny cake that feeds 2-3 took me 2 hours to make. Which I guess is ok, I spent a lot of time running around finding my little tools. I will take better pictures when it's dark. It's very easy to go overboard on this cake, add flower here, there .. everywhere.... I had to force myself to stop, but I haven't filled in the centers, don't know if I ever will. You can't really tell but I painted the stems and some flowers with edible shimmer dust. Subtle yet still very simple...overall, I'm pretty pleased with this modern cake! : )

The rest of this week and next will be spent planning for what to make for Thanksgiving. It's that season for gifting, and I already have a few requests from my family, uncle, and cousins...... : /! I want to see how creative I can make pie crust, I say a leaf motif on top... aka probably 50-100 leaves layered neatly on top of some good ol' apple pie with freshly whipped cream no reddi or cool whip this year! :) I want to test the saying... "easy as pie" ... because somehow I don't believe making pies.. esp the crust is all that "easy." We'll see....

Up next: Cake Pops... because I have a lot of scraps leftover from this cake ! : )

EDIT: So anyway... remember that goal I had about making it onto the front page of allrecipes.com twice? Looks like I did it! I love it when I accomplish something... esp. nowadays when there are no goals really in life but to sit and wait...... although it's really nothing... It's just nice knowing that someone else likes what I'm doing, just as much as I love what I'm doing. I think it'll be the end of the photo contest entries for me for awhile, unless something spectacular comes up. I'll let someone else enjoy that 24 hours of happiness.

and again.. so I don't get in trouble... this was copyrighted from allrecipes.com on 11/22/09
