Not.. "for the way it's made" RIP new mixer...

You should see my face.. it looks kind of like this-> :((((((( .... For 3 days, I looked at my mixer sitting on the floor of my room. Every time I looked at it, I was happy. There's a symbolic meaning to this machine. I put in a lot of hard work to get this, and it has taken me so many years to show and prove to myself that I am extremely passionate about baking. I basically already gave it a name.. "Pierre"... or well that's what people called it. I was too excited to try it out... just waiting to find that perfect recipe to test out the ease and power. I finally found a few recipes to try out. I made gingersnaps, and also whoopie pies. The gingersnaps were wonderful. The mixer was great. I moved onto the whoopie pie. In my last addition of flour, this rattling noise started to come out of my mixer (this was the second problem)... and it got louder.. and louder.. and I was like.. uhhh the beater must be skimming the bottom of the bowl. So I stopped, checked it out, and it was ok. I already adjusted the beater because when I was testing out the attachment, I noticed that the beater was touching the bowl (this was the first problem.) I beat the mixture some more, and was done with my whoopie pies. Then, I was curious. I went back to my mixer and turned it on, without an attachment or bowl. There was definitely something wrong with it. It sounded like a gear was missing something.... I don't know, but the sound was unbearable, kind of like someone hitting a spoon on a metal bowl.. continuiously. ARG.... so... yea.. I did this for awhile, hoping that it will go away... it did.. and then came right back. I don't know what to do, but I need to get rid of this defective one.

It was an open box when I bought it....I was crazy, and spent a big chunk of money on a battered box... : ( Someone probably used it and realized the problem and returned it to Costco, due to their wonderful return policy. I might have to do the same. I'm going to call up Kitchenaid tomorrow and ask them their opinion. I might get a replacement through them to keep my color because Costco does not have red anymore.. online or.. in stores :( ... and I wanted a red one... I don't know if I can settle for black.. or silver.. this thing is supposed to last forever... and mine can't even handle 2 batches of cookies (half batches of each)????.. The Kitchenaid's slogan "for the way it's made" is a load of... BS.. then!. : / ... I guess the comparable one they would give me wouldn't be the professional HD, but rather the professional 5 plus. It is basically the same machine, just 450 watts instead of the 475. I think I won't notice the difference. I could also just return it completely at costco and buy it at Sam's.... iono... the price went up all around because I bought it on the last day of their sale. I just want a mixer that works.. without a horrendous sound. : ( : ( : ( Huffle Puffle : ( : ( : ( ... back to square one? Is this a sign that I should keep waiting to buy that mixer?
