Introducing....

It's big, it's powerful, it's shiny, it's red... and it's finnallly mineeee!!!! Many many posts back, I said that I'd get a kitchenaid mixer if I got into d-school since I'd have an apt to myself.. and... well.. the time has come. Luckily my move to school is only a 40 mile drive, and I can take all of my kitchen gadgets with me! This is my early birthday present to me...haha lame, I know... yayy maybe I'll make my bday cake with it :) Introducing: _________ .... I have yet to name it, but I will, since I'm crazy like that.... :-D

3 Costco trips... and finally.. found the perfect one (I even settled on buying an open and busted box because I wanted that red one so badly!) I went yesterday to see it... and was like hmm do I want this one.. or the Artisan one with less power but more compact design?... hm... so I went home and researched... I figured.. I do bake a lot... more so than the average person, I'd say, and I do love power... This machine is not supposed to break down easily (and Costco has a wonderful return policy.. if it does die.. haha).. and yea...it's a one time purchase..(fingers crossed) so I put in a little more money to get more power and better construction...plus a bowl lift which seems to be a nice feature (I've had horrible issues with the head tilt ones.... We have a sunbeam one at home now.. and tilting it is a PAIN)...

I've had my eye on a red mixer for quite some time now. Why red? I don't know... I don't really like that color (it's the color of my car as well haha,) but red is quite a sexy color to have sitting on the counter. In addition to getting the mixer the set included a few prep bowls, a digital timer (which is great for my favorite chocolate cake recipe!) AND a meat grinding attachment... (Free! after mail in rebate :/.) I wouldn't say this was the best deal on a mixer, but one of the better ones at this time (the sale ended today.) I guess I can't find slick deals on everything right? (although my decision to buy this was partly due to the slickdeals people talking about how this is a great deal for this type of mixer in terms of power.) This mixer has a 475 watt motor, whereas the Artisan one has 325, and the Classic model has a 250 watt motor... so in terms of power, this one is pretty darn crazy.

So what does that mean for my lil mixer? I've been using a cheapy $7 mixer I bought at Longs for the past 3 years. This mixer will always have my heart. I will use it until it dies. I've made so many batches of cookies, cakes, brownies, creams, and macarons with it, and it hasn't let me down! Sure, it has 5 speeds, and the 5th speed is probably as powerful as speed 3 (out of 10) on the Kitchenaid, but that hasn't stopped me from making anything. This will still be a perfect mixer for when I don't need to make a large batch of stuff.

I'm playing around with it like it's Christmas for me.. haha .. it's currently sitting in my room... on the ground.. and plugged in... I've whipped up the air quite nicely tonight.... haha... I will give it a proper photoshoot later... Say "hello" to my new baby!!!!
