Soy Milk Lattes & My 30 Days Challenge

Vanilla Chai Tea Soy Latte : Bigelow Tea & Earth Balance Organic Soymilk
On my recent trip to Chicago, I realized something.... I can't have milk in the morning... well iono if that was really the case, but starting my day with a real tea latte ( we frequented Argo Tea ) ..would make me have heartburn all day (.. or it could have been my horrible diet of deep dish pizzas, hot dogs, beers...) I did an experiment to see if I could have soy milk instead... and low and behold.. it worked! I've never been a fan of soy milk... well the american ones....because I grew up on asian soy milk, and thought the american soy milk tasted funny. I've actually never had a soy milk latte until a few months ago. I thought that was what the LA girly girls normally get because it's healthy.. and well I never wanted to be healthy and a lot of times I would ask for whole milk and whipped cream. I love things rich. Ever since then, I have soy milk in my fridge... along with the regular milk for cooking, baking, and "later in the day" lattes. I got a milk frother from my sister... the "Aerolatte" ... which actually goes great with my "Aeropress." ... ahh the simple gadgets that are cheap and effective... no fancy hundred dollar machines here.. plus, they both save room! I hate going and buying lattes down the street because they run at least 3-4 bucks a pop.. yikes.  I love whipping up my milk  and soy milk to a frothy foamy dream.... most of the time my drink would be half foam.. and that's the way I like it... it takes me awhile to get to the coffee or tea... but eh... the novelty of playing with the froth is too fun.

This is what I do every morning... Dispense hot water into a cup, and place one or two tea bags in it. Fill up a tall glass cup 1/4 full of soy milk, place in microwave for 50 seconds. Use the aerolatte for 15 seconds, give it a stir, and pour into the cup with the tea bag. The whole process only takes a few minutes... and keeps me awake for a few hours.... worth it :)

Well .. it's officially December, and what's happening in December??? MY BOARDS!!! I decided as a motivator for myself, I would take part in a 30 day challenge of some sort. This one will involve food, and the food I will be discussing will be the things that I eat. Yes, that's right, a chronicle of my not so healthy diet. My hope is that by documenting it, I will put a little bit more effort into what I feed myself so that I won't be ashamed of it later on. I have not been really healthy lately. My food choices have been processed foods with little to no nutritional value. Here's to start out this month with a bang. To see my diary... look for the tab above. I might not update everyday, but I will definitely try to update once a week with all the foods I've eating throughout it. Cheers to nourishment and gaining that holiday weight.

  2. horribly haha, it was a fail... that's why I went home... towards the end of the month I would wake up and eat fistfuls of dark chocolate m&m's... then I realized that I needed help. Part way through the month, it got a lot better... but then.. yea.. haha I ran out of time, steam, and I hate doing the dishes... :( I'll post pics when I get a chance!
