My Marble Pastry Board

My mom asked me what I wanted for my birthday, I told her I wanted a marble pastry board.... weird choice hm? Well that's what I went out to get last week.... I think this wins in terms of heaviness for my kitchen goodies.. coming in at a little over 20 pounds... I think it slightly beats out my kitchen aid mixer... but I never lift that. This board is ridiculously heavy.... I had to lug it through the mall... thankfully I had a car.... but still...I brought this board out just for pictures today... you have all the right to call me crazy..

I love my apartment. I fall in love with it almost daily. It's so cute, cozy, and totally me. Everything I wanted, I got. I mean.. I had no idea how useful a dishwasher could be... used as a dishwasher.. instead of a dish rack! I get sad thinking I only have a year left in it :/  As many have put it.. I have an ultra feminine apartment (why would I make it masculine... if you don't like pink.. or red.. don't come to my apt :) ) ... especially my kitchen... the only down side of my kitchen is that I have tile countertops, and that has always been annoying rolling thing out on it.... lately I'd use my small cutting board, but things would always get stuck in the texture-y thing of the plastic board... so then I'd roll it out on wax paper.. but that gets annoying.... iono.. I just try to avoid rolling things out as much as possible...so I just stretch things out... it works.. sometimes... my thought is, having a pastry board would make me want to roll things out more... who knows.. I feel like it'll just be a nice backdrop for my pictures.... and maybe I'll do some work outs with it....

Price : $39.95 - Retail.. and that's what I bought it for : / but... I checked amazon, and this was a decent deal, at least if there's a defect, I can go return it locally. I would hate to pay for shipping to ship this board back!

Mine wasn't as white... it had more grey streaks.. had more of an 80's/early 90's feel... but still pretty... I didn't think to check out the colorations in the store...

I made cupcakes again... I don't know but the last few times I've made my go to cupcakes.. they kinda flopped.. my cupcakes used to rise and fill the liners with the 1/4 cup scoops... lately.. they rise and fall.. so frustrating! I used sour cream in it.. maybe that's why.. but still... I will get to the bottom of this one day, the cupcakes were still good, just smaller than I wished....texture was a tad gummy.

Here's to another long weekend. I'm going to celebrate it by watching the fireworks over the Golden Gate Bridge from my absolute favorite spot in my neighborhood... the Fillmore hill ... ok back to reality... aka procrastination... and reading books on my new Kindle.... I haven't read a book in probably 6 years?...and that's my excuse for my poor grammar/ scattered thoughts... Sorry : ) ... and to think, I taught kids reading and writing for 6 months and stressed the importance of reading...
Well.. my telephoto doesn't have image stabilization ( IS)... and this is what happens.. oh well
GREAT Fireworks show.. better than the 4th :)
In the works: No Knead Bread .. this time I left out an entire day to figure out this rising business.. it's currently on its 10th hours now....at least 10 more hours until I have fresh bread! ... and I live like 3 blocks from a bakery that sells fresh baguettes for $1.50... I always question why I bother with things like this..
