FoodSaver Obsession

yep, she did it.. she vacuum sealed spam..
she even fried it before sealing!
A few weeks ago I bought my mom a mini foodsaver food vacuuming system. It was on slickdeals, and I got suckered in. I thought that this would be a great Christmas present for her, but we don't really celebrate Christmas anymore so I decided to just ship it home.. thinking that she wouldn't know what to do with it or call it a waste of money haha .. little did I know, the day after she received it, she called up customer service and had them take her step by step from sealing to vacuuming. She hasn't stopped vacuuming since... yea.. a 10 ft roll was donezo in 1.5 weeks of use. AHH what was she doing?! Vacuuming everything... from meats to.. french bread<- she said it shriveled up like an old lady's face... my mom is hilarious....because she did that just to see what it would look it.. she ended up unsealing it a day after to see it "grow" back to form.
This was a fail, they were still hard after I unsealed it...
but a good attemptat making them last longer!
Anyway, the reason why I got her one and not one for me is that she complains about how I don't eat all the foods she freezes for me and then they "turn bad" after a few months... aka.. they're covered in ice... everything from ground beef to filet mignon...yea I'm a food waster, I just don't really cook meet. I am so lucky to have such caring parents who have visited me when I don't have the time to go home. I don't know of any parent who would do the same of their children. Yes, Ms. Wallace, my parents still cook me food, and also do my laundry for the past 1.5 years. It's not like I can't do my own laundry, or cook my own food, I just don't have much energy invested in those things....I lived fine on my own while at UCLA where they were 400 miles away.

I don't know when I will be cooking this up....
but hey, at least it won't have freezer burn all over it!
My parents came yesterday and brought me a TON of food.... you wouldn't even believe how much food they brought it... from home made desserts and meals to things they bought at a restaurant and what also came along with it? .. all the food saver packets my mom sealed over the past few weeks... haha They spent almost 5 hours here slowly unpacking the foods, throwing away what they thought was junk, cleaning, reading the newspaper, napping, and eating. They even brought me a cooked crab and cracked open my coconut so I can drink real coconut water! Yep. AMAZING. The cool thing is, when they're here I have to study, so I did, with very little "slacking." I went through all of the dental decks for occlusion and dental anatomy, and did around 50 q's out of a book. That might be the most productive time spent on boards thus far. I haven't studied for my 6 finals this week though.. um... yea.. this is quite the crazy program I'm in. Just. Breathe. It'll all be over soon.
